I know I sound like an a-hole for saying this, but social media is so much more than that. Like everything else that’s good in life, it comes with a price tag. I can honestly understand for a teenager how overwhelming it can be, since I’m always grateful that during my childhood or teen years, there was no internet (not on this level at least) and I got to do so many other great stuff. Those years are still when I read the most books in my life. But still, I don’t like seeing social media as this one-sided, horrible show-offy place where everyone is depressed and trying to look their best. I’ve seen so much authenticity, innovation and humanity on social media too. Seen so many lives changed, so many people doing incredible things “because of” social media. On a scale that you would never experience anywhere else in a regular lifetime.
As much as I appreciate your journey and I myself sometimes need a detox of the whole internet, I’m always an advocate of seeing both sides of things and not labeling them as these “monsters that we all should abandon for good”.
